Kate Bush – Babooshka
One of the first songs I discovered as a kid and became obsessed with. My mum was a Kate Bush fan – I used to sing into the TV remote to this song! Kate definitely shaped how I understand music.
Wolf Alice – Your Loves Whore
My favourite Wolf Alice song. The guitar build in the beginning is unreal.
Die Spitz – Throw Yourself To The Sword
Die Spitz are a super exciting all-girl grunge band from Texas. Their album ‘Something To Consume’ was my top listen last year.
Queens of The Stone Age – You Think I Ain’t Worth A Dollar, But I Feel Like A Millionaire
Such a good song for listening to on the road. Cos you’re skint but feel like a rockstar haha!
Led Zeppelin – When the Levee Breaks
At fourteen, I started gigging in pubs around the West Midlands, cutting my teeth playing covers. Many of those places claimed to be Robert Plant’s “local”, which made me laugh! Led Zep will always remind me of my roots.
All About Eve – Road To Your Soul
British gothic rock, and I’m a sucker for it. Their music is dark and anthemic. Plus the lead singer is from Coventry, which makes it even better!
Warpaint – Disco//very
I love Warpaint, and this track really gets under your skin.
Mannequin Pussy – Loud Bark
Mannequin Pussy are a band I’ve loved for a long time and definitely influence me. Marisa is a rockstar frontwoman. They’re making a new album, and I’m very excited!
Nina Simone – Take Care Of Business
Nina is one of those artists that I always come back to. Fearless and inspiring.
The Velvet Underground – Rock & Roll
A story about a girl who feels alienated then finds belonging in rock n’ roll… all too familiar!
