Discover the sounds behind indie rock outfit Tricky Business! For this edition of Off The Shelf, the four-piece band pulls back the records and hand-picks some of their favourite tracks, the ones that have been on their mind, influencing their sound and shaping who they are as artists.

Take Me Out – Franz Ferdinand

We covered this for the first time at our last show, and it went down great. It’s also tied to lots of great memories from Propaganda at the O2.

Everlong – Foo Fighters

A real favourite; so good that we always play this for our encore. Definitely nothing to do with the fact that Luke is pretty much spent after playing this once through on drums.

Club Foot – Kasabian

We did this a couple of times and loved it, but with the addition of our second guitarist Jake, it made this much more fun to play.

No One Knows – Queens of the Stone Age

Probably the only song that’s ever resulted in a mosh pit at one of our shows.

Elephant – Tame Impala

It was always a bit tricky for Ali to play the synth solo on guitar and make it sound good, but still a lot of fun nonetheless.

Don’t Sit Down Coz I’ve Moved Your Chair – Arctic Monkeys

Probably Arctic Monkeys’ most underrated song. It was always fun to see Tarek sing in a Sheffield accent too.

Figure It Out – Royal Blood

Crazy to think this came out 12 years ago! We haven’t played this one in a while, but it has a special place in our hearts.

Little Black Submarines – The Black Keys

This one is from back in the days when Tarek used to switch from acoustic guitar to bass mid-song. It was very tricky to pull off, which is probably why we stopped playing it live, but still a great song regardless.

You And Whose Army? – Radiohead

This is one that came through from Tarek’s solo acoustic era before he joined Tricky Business. We only ever played it a couple of times, but it was a nice departure from the heavier tracks in the set.

Sunshine Of Your Love – Cream

This was the first song we ever jammed when Tarek joined the band. We haven’t played it in a long time, but it’s got lots of nice memories attached.
