Modjo – Lady (Hear Me Tonight)
This is a cheeky little number which I’ve been obsessed with lately. I love stumbling upon gems which you forgot about from the 90s and 00s. This is exactly one of those! You can’t not sing along and have a little boogy to this one.
Lykke Li – I Follow Rivers (Magician Remix)
This has to be one of my favourite remixes of all time. I first heard this song when I watched Blue Is The Warmest Colour which is a lesbian love film and one of the first times I’d seen a lesbian relationship portrayed in so much rawness on screen. This song always gives me the best vibes and it reminds me of that movie.
ODESZA – Sun Models
I’m a big fan of the electro chill movement and I’ll lose myself for hours in youtube channels like The Sound You Need, La Belle Musique and Majestic Casual. This is one of my favourite tracks from this genre and it always gives me great inspiration when I’m in the studio. One of my big goals in life is to get one of my tracks featured on one of these channels. I have a lot of respect for their curation. Only good music allowed!
Manatee Commune – What We’ve Got
Another electro chill number, because I just can’t resist. Also, Manatee and I follow each other on Instagram <3
Clairo – 4EVER
Clairo is amazing. If you haven’t heard of her until now then you really need to go check her out. She’s at the forefront of the Bedroom Pop movement and I bloody love it. Special mention also has to go to her track Pretty Girl. I love both of these tracks equally and was really torn which one to put here, so do yourself a favour and go listen to both!
CLAVVS – Lay Back
I can’t remember how I came across CLAVVS but I love the production in this track.
Emily Wells – Stay Up
I recently got featured on an awesome playlist called ‘The Future Is Female’ curated by the magnificent Madame Ghandi and this is where I found this banger. This song really spoke to me the first time I heard it. And the string section makes it sound so epic. I love it when pop/electronic music encompasses classical elements.
Clean Bandit – Mozart’s House
Also, talking about pop/electro music infusing classical elements, here’s another cracker for you. Clean Bandit has recently got quite mainstream, which is still awesome, but I much prefer their older material like this one. Have a listen and see what you think. This one gets me in the mood to bop.
Tove Lo – Habits (Hippie Sabotage Remix)
Tove Lo is awesome but this remix takes it to another level. This is one of those songs I really wish I’d written. The music video is amazing as well. Would love to work with Hipper Sabotage on a remix someday. Here’s to hoping!
Elder Island – Bamboo
My cousin used to go to uni in Bristol and would see these guys live all the time. He told me to check them out and I’ve been hooked ever since. The most beautiful electro with great melodies, lyrics and hooks. I recently saw them live for the first time in London and they were incredible. They’ve also just released their debut album which you should go check out. This is my personal favourite song and it really makes me feel things. Quick secret – I’m currently working on a project with Nic Kane who directed the latest music video for these guys :p
FNP – Too Late
So this guy reached out to me on Twitter and now we’ve become the best of friends. FNP has been working on a remix of Good For Nothing and we’re looking to release in early May, so keep your eyes peeled! I’m so excited to be working with him and can’t wait to show you the remix.
Kylie Minogue – Can’t Get You Out of My Head
Ok so this might feel like a random choice to throw in, but get this – my wonderful drummer Terry is cousins with Kylie’s Music Director! He came along to one of our band rehearsals in January and has been helping us with our live show. Super cool! Also, Kylie’s is playing the legend slot at Glasto this year and I can’t wait to see that. I’ve got tickets and will probably lose my shit when this song comes on. Another one you just can’t not groove to.
