Giraffe

Gilla Band, the Dublin quartet of vocalist Dara Kiely, guitarist Alan Duggan Borges, bassist Daniel Fox and drummer Adam Faulkner, have returned with their first new music in almost four years, and ‘Giraffe’ finds them still in crushingly intense form.

Self-produced, the track starts out as a grinding, sneery post-punk mud party before exploding into thumping industrial dance music. Gilla Band always had an electronic influence, but it’s coming through with unusual clarity here.

Dara Kiely’s lyrics pull you right into his chaotic headspace, and it’s not a comfortable place to be as he explores themes of loneliness and feelings of being unloved.

‘Giraffe’ feels incredibly fresh. It’s dynamic, incisive, and pure in its intent, capturing a poignant sense of isolation. We’re excited to see what’s coming next.
